USA Nordic Receives Two Grants From Utah Office Of Tourism

USA Nordic Sport (USANS) was awarded funding from the 2020 Utah Office of Tourism (UOT) CARES Traditional Co-op Marketing Program that will match existing marketing campaign funding for two major annual ski jumping and Nordic Combined events. The mission of the Utah Cooperative Marketing Program is to leverage state and co-op partner funding to attract visitors to increase tourism expenditures.  The matching money is allocated to reduce the COVID 19 impact to Utah’s tourism economy.

The Utah Office of Tourism’s (UOT) mission is to elevate life in Utah through responsible tourism stewardship. We do this through marketing, stewardship and development. Marketing: UOT curates messaging that inspires visitation, supports local businesses and builds the Utah economy. Stewardship: UOT manages visitation statewide and supports the responsible discovery of Utah. Development: UOT partners with local communities to enhance and develop their visitor economies to benefit residents and visitors.

“Partnering with the UOT is a natural fit for us. Hosting these annual events is beneficial to our organization athletically while also increasing the popularity and exposure of ski jumping and nordic combined in the United States,” stated Billy Demong, Executive Director, USA Nordic Sport. “It also offers a unique opportunity for us to play a leadership role in continuing to provide high quality events for tourism and, with a likely Olympic bid, the opportunity to show the world that Summit County and Utah can host such events.”

The funding received will be utilized to promote two events hosted at the Utah Olympic Park ¾ the Nordic Combined Continental Cup (COC)/Ski Jumping FIS Cup (pending COVID-19 regulations) in December 2020 and the 23rd Annual North American Jindro Mayer Springer Tournee in July 2021.

“Both of these well-established events generate significant revenue to the Utah economy via lodging, retail, restaurant and tickets sales,” stated Kelly Day, Utah Office of Tourism Cooperative Marketing Manager. “We look forward to partnering with USANS to enhance their marketing efforts to bring more individuals to Utah to see these exciting events right in our backyard.”

“The CARES investment allows our industry to engage with Utah and out of state travelers to encourage COVID safe experiences,” said Vicki Varela, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism. “We look forward to partnering with USANS to enhance their marketing efforts to bring more individuals to Utah to see these exciting events right in our backyard.”
