Marinzen-Seiser Alm Lift Connection Approved

With a few conditions, the state government has approved variant 2 for the expansion of the Marinzen ski area (municipality of Castelrotto) and its connection to the Alpe di Siusi ski area.
A detachable 10-person circulating gondola lift will bring winter sports enthusiasts from Marinzen in Castelrotto to the Puflasch on the Alpe di Siusi in a few years and thus connect the two areas. In addition, a drag lift for skiers is to be built from the mountain station of the currently existing chair lift.
The state government approved the second variant for the project with a few conditions. This is a feasibility study for the gondola lift without a downhill slope in the upper part.
Several requirements for better mobility and the environment
In the next step, a landscape report must be submitted for the project. The final project must also undergo an environmental impact assessment. As a further requirement, the new infrastructure should be planned in such a way that it is particularly easy to reach on foot and offers ski storage service at the valley station. An important requirement concerns mobility. Measures to reduce traffic volume are to be taken on the basis of analyzes. An adequate number of parking spaces at the valley station must also be provided.
Focus on development
Marinzen GmBH, which submitted the project, must also provide detailed calculations to prove that the entire project is profitable for connecting the two ski areas. The feasibility study also provides for a comprehensive modernization of the Marinzen ski area. Only after this has ended can the operation of the new lift be approved. For the modernization, the existing "Marinzen" ski slope will be extended with a curve in the east.
A new drag lift starting at the mountain station of the currently existing chair lift with a new slope and its own snowmaking system is to be built. Even without the downhill slope planned in the original project, a storage basin for snowmaking is to be created.
