Kitzbuhel Prepares For Winter
The extensive measures for the upcoming winter season were presented in good time for the start of the season in Kitzbühel last weekend.
Together into the winter season
The safety and health of everyone in Kitzbühel is a top priority when preparing for the winter season. Ski operation since October 24th
Last Saturday, Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel started this winter season in the Resterkogel training center as one of the first non-glacier ski areas. Over 50 national and international cadres as well as ski clubs and junior teams have already registered in order to take advantage of the ideal conditions on site. Winter operations on the Hahnenkamm are planned for mid-November.
Early start to skiing fun
From 8 a.m., ski enthusiasts can use the four main feeder lifts (Hahnenkamm, Fleckalm, Maierl, Wagstätt). A total of eleven feeder systems serve to equalize the flow of visitors. When entering the gondola, the customer is free to decide whether they want to use their own gondola despite the current MNS obligation.
World first UV-C light disinfection
As a worldwide unique project, together with the company PLANLICHT in cooperation with the Management Center Innsbruck, the two cabins of the Hornbahn and the saunas of the AQUARENA are disinfected with UV-C light to eliminate germs and microorganisms.
Online ticket is child's play
To promote online tickets, the mountain railway offers various options, from the KitzSkiCard to the web pick-up code. The ticket app starts as a pilot project on the Kitzbüheler Horn in cooperation with Skidata from Salzburg. After purchasing the ticket via the app, guests can conveniently pass the turnstiles with their smartphones. A further development and roll-out to the entire ski area is planned. With the KitzSki Pure Card, a world first that combines sustainability and innovation, season ticket holders receive, for the first time, a 100 percent recyclable ski card made from Tyrolean wood.
Catering and accommodation businesses
The safety and health of everyone also has top priority in the catering and hotel industries. The basis for this is compliance with the Ministry of Health and Safe Hospitality, especially with regard to distance and hygiene rules.
Weekly employee prevention tests
Most of the Kitzbühel businesses take part in the comprehensive test program, in which since July 1st, employees of accommodation establishments have been able to be tested for Covid-19 voluntarily and free of charge. Since September 1st, employees in the catering industry have also been tested. This service will be extended to ski instructors in the winter season.
Easy guest registration
A uniform and simple option for guest registration has been created throughout the Kitzbühel region. The “digital guest book” from mtms Solutions is based on a QR code and guests can register in seconds. This comprehensive and uniform system, which is easy to use and works 100 percent in compliance with data protection regulations, is used by ten other top destinations in Tyrol and the Salzburg region in addition to Kitzbühel.
High-performance test laboratory in Kitzbühel
Under the patronage of Mayor Dr. Klaus Winkler developed his own test concept for the region. The fixed screening station is located in the cash area of the tennis stadium. For the corresponding professional test evaluation, a high-tech laboratory will be installed in the former hospital premises, which is also listed as an official test partner of the “Safe Hospitality” initiative. Test results are available within a maximum of three hours and are sent to the test person personally. Testing is currently possible for guests, locals and employees from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and an expansion is planned for the winter season. Other doctors on site offer corresponding test options if necessary.
