German Ski Association President Steinle Re-Elected
Dr. Franz Steinle is entering his third term of office as President of the German Ski Association. The representatives of the 20 state ski associations unanimously expressed their confidence in the 70-year-old for another four years. Vice-presidents Miriam Vogt, Heiko Krause and Tobias Angerer and treasurer Jörg Flechtner were also confirmed without a dissenting vote.
"The tasks and challenges that we as the umbrella association have to master in the coming months and years are enormous," said DSV President Dr. Franz Steinle. "We will only succeed in this if, as in previous years, we bundle our know-how and all our strengths. I am therefore very grateful that the association assembly has unanimously given the entire DSV presidium the mandate for another election period. Against the background of the current Covid19 pandemic, this is a great opportunity to continue working on the various topics with a tested and tried team and without friction losses. "
In addition to safeguarding top-class sport, Steinle said, the main focus must be more than ever on the development and promotion of young talent and leisure activities.
"Compared to other disciplines and leisure activities, skiing has significantly better prerequisites to successfully face the crisis. To this end, we have been working closely with various experts on overarching concepts for several months, which we are currently adapting to the respective framework conditions This applies both to the implementation of our World Cup events and the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2021, as well as to all courses and training measures, as well as to all leisure and popular sports.
