Mount Sunapee Celebrates Spring With Gold-Medalist Events
Two of the U.S.A.’s skiing heroes will be visiting Mount Sunapee in March for two of the resort’s biggest events of the season: Ladies’ Day Extravaganza on March 17 and Bode Bonanza on March 20.
Mount Sunapee’s Ladies’ Day Extravaganza is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. The day starts with a breakfast-and-mimosa welcome followed by a Zumba warmup. At 9 a.m., Olympic Gold Medalist Donna Weinbrecht will present “Donna Weinbrecht – My Journey,” an inspirational autobiography of her quest for Olympic gold. She will ski with participants during the day, and attend an après ski event at 2:45 p.m. Registration is $35 for the day with lift tickets priced at $39 for those without a season pass. Optional ski and snowboard skills clinics scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon are priced at $51 and include a lunch voucher. Advance registration is required.
On March 20, New Hampshire native Bode Miller is scheduled to visit Mount Sunapee, providing skiers with a chance to meet the six- time Olympic medalist and eight-time world champion, and race against his time in a dual GS race on Sunapee’s Eggbeater Trail. Proceeds benefit Turtle Ridge Foundation and NEHSA, two organizations that support adaptive skiing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have a photo taken with Miller and attend a Q&A session. Participation is $50 plus fees to race against Bode’s time and $50 plus fees for the Q&A. Lift tickets are not included in registration fees. Race registration starts at 8 a.m. in Spruce Lodge. The day’s festivities also include a silent auction, a live auction and race awards presentation. Advance registration is required.
