Lenk & TechnoAlpin: Groundbreaking Strides For The Future
TechnoAlpin, the world market leader, guarantees its customers reliable snow coverage for a successful snow business. This promise is based on investments in the development of high-performance snow guns as well as on individual snow-making plans geared to the future.
Snow reliability is an important issue for Switzerland's Bergbahnen Lenk, as for many ski resorts around the world. This particular ski resort has been investing in the expansion of its snow-making systems for many years to guarantee winter seasons with first-class snow coverage both now and in the future. After five years of planning and negotiating with the authorities and various organizations, the "Betelberg snow-making project" was approved in March 2020. The project includes the construction of a reservoir and the essential pumping plant.
High performance despite delays
Given the current situation because of the Coronavirus, the Betelberg groundbreaking ceremony was put on hold. Despite the fact that the machinery was already on-site and considerable progress had been made, the groundbreaking ceremony for this innovative project did not take place until 11 June 2020. The joyful event was celebrated on the construction site by Nicolas Vauclair (CEO Lenk Bergbahnen) and André Troxler(Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lenk Bergbahnen) together with Erich Gummerer (CEO TechnoAlpin), Martin Hofer (TechnoAlpin Sales Manager, Switzerland), Stefan Mumenthaler (Area Manager TechnoAlpin) and Massimo Stofer (Site Manager TechnoAlpin) alongside many other project stakeholders.
In addition to the new Leiterli reservoir with a water capacity of almost 90,000 m³, 11 km of new snow-making lines are also under construction. In future, these new lines will accommodate 68 new TR10 and TR8 snow guns for guaranteed snow coverage. The two latest revolutionary snow guns are not only impressive because of their innovative technology but they also demonstrate high levels of energy efficiency and performance in borderline temperatures.
Thanks to TechnoAlpin, snow coverage will be guaranteed on approximately 70% of the Betelberg slopes from the 2020/2021 winter season onwards. As a long-time partner of Lenk Bergbahnen, TechnoAlpin Schweiz AG is immensely proud to play a major role as system partner and supplier at such a vital stage in the expansion process.
