FIS Holds South America Alpine Technical Delegate Update
On Thursday, 25th June, the FIS Alpine Technical Delegate Update for TDs from Argentina and Chile took place online. It was the first-ever update conducted online by FIS’s Alpine Technical & Administrative Coordinator Janez Flere and all TDs from the region were present.
The main topics were studying practical cases, rules changes, precisions and protocols in case that the winter season can open according to the regulations of the authorities in both countries.
There were 10 FIS TDs from Chile and Argentina participating with two candidate TDs and four observers. Janez Flere Alpine Technical & Administrative Coordinator reported: “I have sent all the working documents in advance, so they had the chance to study the practical cases. They were then divided into four whatsapp groups, with each group dealing with a different case study. Then we connected all again and discussed all outcomes together. At the end it was a great experience for everyone, that we will further develop”.
During the last week, all the ski resorts in South America received a lot of snow. More than one meter fell in La Parva, Chapelco, Catedral and Antillanca but due to the current Covid-19 situation in Argentina and Chile, the ski resorts remain closed until further notice from the authorities.
