Oberstdorf 2021 Reveals Countdown Clock

With exactly 365 days to go, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf/Allgäu 2021 unveiled the countdown clock at the Oberstdorf railway station square. Guests and locals can now visit the countdown clock to the Oberstdorf 2021FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

Dr. Franz Steinle, Head of the Supervisory Board of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Oberstdorf/Allgäu 2021 and President of the German Ski Federation, Moritz Beckers-Schwarz, Managing Director, Laurent O. Mies, First Mayor of Oberstdorf, Frank Jost, Director of Tourism, Peter Kruijer, First Chairman Ski Club Oberstdorf, as well as Richard Steindl, Business Developement Manager at Stora Enso Germany, all were on location to celebrate the inauguration of the countdown clock.

Located in the centre of Oberstdorf, the clock is counting down the days to the opening ceremony of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2021. The Presenting Sponsor Stora Enso made its contribution by providing matching wooden panels. The countdown clock is presented by the watch manufacturer Junghans, the Official Timing Partner of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2021.

„With this countdown clock, Oberstdorf is setting an example in its town and inviting guests and locals to a fairy-tale winter journey 2021. For us as the German Ski Federation, the clock will also send an important signal: Oberstdorf is the most important location for our Nordic Ski section. Currently, one third of our national squad lives and trains in Oberstdorf. The entire Nordic sport, whether at a competitive or recreational level, as well as the town of Oberstdorf and the region, will profit from these World Championships for at least the next two generations and continue to establish itself as an attractive winter sports destination“, Steinle said.

“Presenting a countdown clock is an important milestone for every organiser of FIS World Championships. The clock is a symbol for the organisers and the local community, and it reminds us of the unforgettable sporting moments and wonderful atmosphere that lie ahead”, FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis added.
