New Konrad Bartelski Photographic Exhibition
Konrad Bartelski, former Winter Olympic skier turned photographer, has a new exhibition that reflects the dramatic scenery of mountain landscapes from across the world.
The exhibition, from Sunday 6th December to Wednesday 23rd December, 2020, will be held at Wimbledon Fine Art, London.
Following on from his successful debut exhibition ‘My Keys to the Secret Garden’ in 2018, Bartelski brings a new collection of limited edition prints that capture many of his expeditions to the remote and extreme corners of the world; to the Norwegian Arctic, Antarctica, volcanoes in Iceland, Northern California, Kamchatka, Russia and Japan, as well as the uncharted slopes of Kyrgyzstan, the back-country in the Alps, Kashmir and the wild Patagonia region.
Konrad first competed in the FIS Ski World Cup, aged sixteen. The following year he raced in in the 1972 Olympic Winter Games, in Sapporo, Japan. Then in 1981 in Val Gardena, was the first British male to stand on a World Cup Downhill podium with his second place in the downhill.
Now every day that Konrad skis, he carries his camera in the mountains as he believes that: “It is when the weather is grey and moody that our planet reveals its most spectacular drama”.
Konrad’s passion for the vast spaces is inspired by the local knowledge and skills of some of the most remarkable and hugely experienced mountain guides and he claims that: “It is these sensitive and imaginative characters who have enabled me to explore the areas of this earth where the perspective and scale of the winter geography is captured at its purest.”
The exhibition takes place at Wimbledon Fine Art, 41 Church Road, London, SW19 5DQ
