Hinterstoder: Study Confirms Snow Reliability
A study carried out by Mag. Günther Aigner - one of the leading futurologists - comes to the following conclusion: The annual highest snow depths have not decreased statistically in the relatively deep Hinterstoder (590 m above sea level) as well as at the station "Klein Pyhrgas". The presented series of snow measurements were taken in different regions in the “Pyhrn-Priel” area. In addition, the observed periods of time are very different, because the following applies:
- All measurement series are always considered as long back as possible.
- In Hinterstoder, the duration of the natural snow cover has also not decreased statistically verifiable.
- In general, a slight shortening of the snow cover periods can be observed in Austrian and Upper Austrian winter sports resorts. This goes hand in hand with the (further) warming of the winters in the past 50 years, even though this warming is not statistically significant in higher elevations in Upper Austria.
- The increasingly powerful and efficient possibilities of technical snowmaking can significantly overcompensate for this slight shortening of the natural snow cover periods, which has resulted in constant or even slightly increasing ski season lengths in recent decades.
Hinterstoder is there for its citizens and guests
Hinterstoder is Upper Austria's only ski world cup location and today enjoys the reputation of an attractive year-round holiday community. The "Pearl of the Alps" Hinterstoder - a rating for extraordinary holiday resorts in the Alps, whose primary concerns are climate protection and gentle mobility - impresses with its authentic townscape surrounded by the impressive backdrop of the Dead Mountains. Winter sports are very important in Hinterstoder - the range of winter activities ranges from diverse downhill fun on the Hutterer Höss to romantic horse-drawn carriage rides to hearty tobogganing fun. But even in summer, Hinterstoder, a community with a population of around 1,000, is a recreational and leisure paradise. Several hiking trails and natural beauties such as the Polsterlucke or the Strumboding waterfall speak for themselves.
