"Snow Gala" In Cortina: Brignone, Moioli And Fischnaller Honoured
Cortina d'Ampezzo celebrated the heroes of last winter on 1st August. The third edition of Snow Gala was organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport in collaboration with the Cortina Foundation, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and Audi.
The winners were awarded with the Fiocchi d’oro (golden bow) and the Fiocchi d'Argento (silver bow).
Federica Brignone took home the Fiocchi d’oro as the overall FIS Alpine Ski World Cup champion, as well as the giant slalom and alpine combined winner. Roland Fischnaller, who finished atop the FIS Snowboard World Cup overall parallel and parallel giant slalom categories, and Michela Moioli, the women's snowboard cross champion on the World Cup circuit, also received the Golden Bow.
Dominik Paris led the Silver Bow winners after winning two World Cup races in Bormio. Cross-country skier Federico Pellegrino was recognised for his three podiums last season, while Lara Malsiner was recognised for her first FIS Ski Jumping World Cup podium as well as a bronze medal at the FIS Junior World Ski Jumping Championships.
FIS Council Member and FISI President, Flavio Roda officially congratulated the athletes on their achievements in contributing to a successful season for the Italian Ski Teams.
Brignone becomes Ambassador for Cortina 2021 mascot Corty
At the Snow Gala, it was also announced that Brignone is an ambassador for the Cortina 2021 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships mascot, Corty. "I am very happy and proud to have been chosen as ambassador for Corty, the mascot of Cortina 2021, an event so important and awaited by all of us Italians," Brignone said.
The cute, red squirrel was designed by Trudi for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which will take place 7th to 21st February 2021.
“Together with Trudi, I’ve decided to donate my remuneration to give a scholarship to a young, talented Italian alpine skier who will be chosen according to some rules that we are setting out.”
“We are proud and honoured,” said Mr Bertè, CEO of Giochi Preziosi, the group to which Trudi belongs and licensee of Cortina 2021, “to have had the opportunity of creating Corty thanks to Trudi’s creativity and craftsmanship and we are pleased to have the chance to tell Cortina 2021 epic adventure with Federica Brignone, the pride of Italian sport and example of success, talent, commitment and determination”.
As Corty Ambassador, Federica Brignone joins the team of Fondazione Cortina 2021 in the run-up to the international event.
