2020 Biathlon World Championships In Antholz To Rely On TechnoAlpin
With just a few weeks to go before the start of the 2019-2020 winter season, world market leader for snowmaking systems TechnoAlpin and the Biathlon World Cup Antholz Committee have announced their partnership. This will make TechnoAlpin a Gold Partner for the 2020 Biathlon World Championships. The official presentation was held at the 2019 Forum Nordicum in the South Tyrol Arena in Antholz.
“We are proud to be able to enter into this partnership with the Biathlon World Cup Antholz Committee,” said TechnoAlpin Sales Manager Italy Wolfgang Psenner. “Over the years, Antholz has demonstrated its outstanding skills in organizing the Biathlon World Cup. The World Championships next year will cap it all.”
Biathlon and Nordic competitions often pose particular challenges for the organizers when it comes to guaranteeing snow. In contrast to Alpine ski resorts, they are held closer to sea level, so the windows of opportunity for snow generation are even shorter. The snow often has to be distributed over many kilometers. In order to meet the requirements of predictability for planning and snow quality worthy of world champions, the organizing committee has now decided to rely on the snowmaking expertise of TechnoAlpin. “We have many different snow guns in our product range; therefore, we can offer an efficient solution for each individual case. In addition to the classic fan-based snow producers and lances, for example, we can also provide the Snowfactory,” added Psenner.
The right snow gun for each individual case
The Snowfactory enables snowmaking even at warmer temperatures – without chemical additives, of course – and therefore increases predictability for the organizers who plan the events. The Snowfactory is not intended as a substitute for classic techniques, however, but is more of an addition to the possible applications of snowmaking technology. “It is very important for us to have a Snowfactory available for the World Championships in 2020. Guaranteed snow and predictability for planning are always high on the list for us organizers, and naturally they are right at the top of the list this season with the upcoming World Championships. That’s why we are pleased to be able to work with such a competent partner as TechnoAlpin in this field,” said Lorenz Leitgeb, President of the Biathlon Antholz Committee, expressing his delight at the partnership.
The cooperation was officially announced at the 40th Forum Nordicum meeting, the annual gathering of Nordic ski journalists, which was held in Antholz this year. While they were there, the delegates took the opportunity to see the Snowfactory, which will guarantee snow for the South Tyrol Arena.
