Colorado Mountain Fest Introduces New Clinics, Film Festival & Events

Colorado Mountain Fest, presented by Colorado Mountain Club and powered by prAna on September 28-29 at the American Mountaineering Center, is proud to announce that the festival has added new films, competitions, and clinics to an event bustling with fun activities for the entire family.

The festival is proud to present two new clinics: Mental Training and Redpointing with Heather Weidner, presented by Rab, and Basic Anchor Building with Dawn Glanc of Chicks Climbing & Skiing.

Heather Weidner is one of the world’s leading female climbers, with a number of astounding ascents to her name, including the first female free ascent of China Doll, a 5.14 in Boulder Canyon.

Heather will help climbers with their mental game, improving techniques and tactics in order to climb the next grade and feel more comfortable in their abilities.

Dawn Glanc is a guide with Chicks Climbing & Skiing with a specialty in ice and mixed climbing. Dawn will be discussing utilizing bolted anchors for top rope and lead climbing and talk about safe anchor cleaning.

In addition to the clinics and seminars, the festival is also thrilled to present the film, "A Line Across the Sky," the story of climbers Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold’s extraordinary traverse of the Fitz Roy massif in Patagonia. We are also presenting "Mixtress," telling the story of the leading females of mixed climbing and how they are changing the climbing game.

In the vendor village, top brands will be showing off their best, featuring an athlete meet-and-greet with Paul Robinson, and a gri-gri tug of war presented by Petzl, in addition to entertainment, food trucks, and a beer garden sponsored by Odell Brewing.

For the kids they’ll be a Mini Mountain Fest, presented by the Youth Education Program, featuring outdoor games and activities, and Colorado Mountain Club’s Bouldering Bus. The Mini Mountain Fest is for grades 2-5 and includes mountain themed games & activities including slacklining, Colorado wildlife, scavenger hunt, and climbing in the CMC Bouldering Bus.

Entrance to the family-friendly event is free, clinics are $50.00 and seminars are $5.00. CMC Members receive 10% off registration and all seminar participants receive a free drink ticket.
