Cocktail Experience: Breckenridge Distillery Launches Apres In The Backcountry Campaign

Breckenridge Distillery, the World's Highest Distillery, is excited to announce their Après in the Backcountry campaign and full-length video just in time for winter. The video was produced to embrace the community, conversation and connection that après brings together, even in a backcountry hut, and was showcased at the Breckenridge Film Festival last month.

“Breckenridge Distillery appreciates and loves being a part of the activity of après,” said Bryan Nolt, Founder and CEO of Breckenridge Distillery. “Whether it’s sharing a cocktail at the ski lodge after a powder day, or deep in the backcountry, après is a time where memories are made and adventure is relived surrounded by friends, and we are happy our spirits can be a part of it.”

In fact, the idea of starting Breckenridge Distillery was thought up deep in the backcountry. The Distillery was inspired during a fishing trip that Founder, Bryan Nolt took with a friend to Mohawk Lakes near Breckenridge. As a busy and successful doctor, he didn’t have plans to enter a new career, but he did have an overwhelming passion for whiskey, and talked about it all day while catching more trout than he could count. “It’s a rare moment when you decide to start a distillery standing at 12,073 feet,” said Nolt.

Earning your turns in the backcountry requires sacrificing some luxuries. But, something that you don’t need to sacrifice is a delicious après cocktail to cap an amazing day. Leave the Kool-Aid drink mix and Country Time Lemonade powder at home. Instead, think ‘elevated cocktail experience’ and pack ingredients like a mini bottle of bitters for an Old Fashioned or cinnamon sticks for a Hot Smoked Cider. When it comes to packing for après, keep it simple. Using fruit rinds, dehydrated fruits from trail mix, or snow can reduce the amount of ingredients you need to haul in.

Breckenridge Distillery has created 6 easy cocktails to take your drinking experience to new elevations, including the snowball Old Fashioned, Backcountry Tea, and Hot Smoked Cider.
