Schladming-dachstein Set For Record Winter: Large Investment For More Guest Comfort

The Austrian holiday region Schladming-Dachstein ( www.schladming-dachstein.at ) is preparing for a winter of records. The offer is massively expanded, large investments totaling more than 30 million euros provide for a further improvement of the infrastructure and thus more comfort for snow-hungry guests. On the Planai, the main cable car was rebuilt in summer. The state-of-the-art 10-passenger gondola lift with 153 gondolas delivers a capacity of 3,800 passengers per hour. Riesneralm has implemented an innovative, environmentally friendly snowmaking project. In Ramsau am Dachstein - the El dorado for Nordic skiers - renovations ensure more snow and additional and wider trails.

"The successes of our region in recent years have shown that a constant development of the supply pays off in the long term. In order to constantly optimize the guest experience, large investments are necessary, "said Mathias Schattleitner, Tourism Manager in Schladming-Dachstein. "We are all looking forward to the upcoming winter and are optimally prepared." The holiday region in the Styrian Enns Valley is one of the five largest tourism destinations in Austria with more than 3.5 million overnight stays per year.

Planai: top equipment at the cutting edge of technology

The Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen are the largest mountain railway and leisure companies in Styria. With the new construction of the main cable car, the biggest investment in the company's history was realized this year. A state-of-the-art powerful 10-passenger gondola lift was built. With barrier-free entry and exit, larger cabins, modern design and optimized checkout areas, the Planai-Hochwurzen railways offer guests state-of-the-art, state-of-the-art equipment. The panoramic glazing of the new cabins provides a unique panoramic view of the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein massif.

Riesneralm: Energy-independent ski resort with less environmental impact

The Riesneralm invested several million euros this year in an innovative snowmaking project. This provides, instead of a snow-making pond, a hydroelectric power plant for generating electricity. The trick here: the snowmaking system is directly connected to the pipe system of the hydroelectric power plant and can thus simultaneously produce snow and electricity . The Riesneralm wants to position itself as an energy self-sufficient ski resort, which now generates almost three times as much electricity with the water from the Donnersbach than it consumes in total for the operation of the entire ski area, including snowmaking.

Ramsau am Dachstein: Offer extended for Nordic skiers

Ramsau am Dachstein further expands the offer for Nordic skiers. Around one million euros were invested this year in the improvement of the technical infrastructure, more snow reliability and new and wider trails. Hobby runners and top athletes appreciate the perfect conditions on the high plateau above the Ennstal. In particular, this winter they benefit from a new snow line, which guarantees a snow-covered cross-country course of four kilometers. The popular Kulmberg trail will be extended by two kilometers and also provided with a new trail width of eight to twelve meters.
