Mountain High Winter Season Opening Day Set For Nov. 22
The winter season is upon us, and when it snows, Southern California flocks to Mountain High, the closest winter resort, only 90 minutes from downtown LA. Mountain High will kick off the season on Friday, November 22nd, weather permitting, and expects to be the first resort open in SoCal as usual. Over $1 million was allocated to upgrades throughout the resort this year, including improved snowmaking capabilities, new family-friendly sledding and snowplay parks, rental equipment upgrades and terrain park features. November 22nd | Opening Day at Mountain High
To kick off the 2019-2020 season on Friday, November 22nd, Mountain High’s opening day will include live broadcasts from local radio stations, ticket and swag giveaways, DJs throughout the day and a live performance by an emerging alternative rock band from the Inland Empire, Liily (of Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza fame), who will take the stage at Foggy Goggle at 1:00 p.m. Lifts will run from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with access to the Upper Chisolm, Lower Chisolm, Cruiser, and Sunnyside runs.
More Snowmaking Power in a More Ecological Way
Mountain High invested over $500,000 in 2019 to make its extensive snowmaking system even more powerful, efficient and safe for the environment. Using a combination of TechnoAlpin snowguns, including new low-energy and mid-energy models, the resort can produce more snow while using 16,000 fewer gallons of diesel fuel and producing fewer emissions. Resort operators expect to use 100 fewer gallons of diesel per hour, ostensibly cutting their carbon footprint in half. With a naturally increased water supply resulting from a wet 2018 winter, Mountain High’s water reservoirs are well stocked and ready for renewable snowmaking.
New Yeti Snow Park Offers More Sledding, Tubing and Snow Play Areas
Located at 8,200 feet, Mountain High will debut its third Yeti Snow Park, located at the summit of the East Resort. Named in honor of Mountain High’s beloved mascot, the Yeti Snow Park offers family- and kid-friendly zones, including sledding zones, a snowshoe trail and three “snow play” areas with scenic views. Guests should keep their eyes peeled for the Yeti and his friends as they traverse throughout the snow park interacting with guests. The nearby Grand View Bistro offers a rare experience to dine atop the mountain and enjoy a casual Italian menu, musical acts each weekend, and beer and wine for the 21+ crowd.

More Ways to Ride with Upgraded Rental Equipment + Sno-Go Snow Bikes
Mountain High has partnered with alpine equipment manufacturer Rossignol to add $260,000 of new state-of-the-art skis and snowboards to its rental inventory. Additionally, Mountain High has added 30 Sno-Go snow bikes to its rental lineup. A play off a traditional bike with three skis instead of wheels, these new devices aren’t available at any other SoCal resort and offer a fun new challenge to winter thrill-seekers as well as an easy and enjoyable option for newbie riders.
New Terrain Features + “Freedom Ticket”
After an extensive overhaul, Mountain High has introduced more than 50 terrain features to its Terrain Park and surrounding runs, including new 18-inch round rails, new beginner-friendly terrain features on Creekside, and intermediate/advanced features spread throughout The Wedge, Pipeline, Borderline, The Playground and Woodworth Gulch.
To make the most of these new features and upgrades, Mountain High’s new “Freedom Ticket” offers a customizable experience for guests, with the ability to select the number of runs desired for each day. Usable seven days a week, credits are electronically deducted from the ticket with each lift ride, and unused points are carried over throughout the season. The transferable credits allow sharing with friends and family and can be purchased in blocks of 500, 1,000, and 1,500 credits, with 10 credits applied to each ride and 20 credits applied to each high-speed quad.
