James Orr Heliski Launches New Georgia Heli Adventure For February-March 2021
James Orr Heliski is offering an exclusive package to the Svaneti region of Georgia and its UNESCO World Heritage valley of Mestia for 8 nights and 6 days of heliskiing in one of Europe’s most remote mountain regions, high up in the Caucuses Mountains.
- Limited spaces available at new heliski operation in Mestia means places open to book now
- First British operator to offer heliskiing trips to the UNESCO World Heritage valley of Mestia, Georgia
The valley is also home to the ski areas of Hatsvali and Tetnuldi, which offer good piste and off-piste options and can be used as alternatives to heliskiing in the event of bad weather preventing flights from operating.
The Mestia region is one of the last truly untapped ski areas of Europe, with peaks reaching over 4,000 metres and the highest at over 5,000 metres – forested valleys give way to vast glaciers and seemingly endless mountains offer heliskiers infinite possibilities.
James Orr, from James Orr Heliskiing, said: “I’ve been looking at Mestia for a few years now but when a brand new heliski operation started up recently we wanted to be in there quickly. Demand is very high, but we have secured a week during the peak heliskiing season in 2021. Right now the region is still developing but because Mestia is so remote, it still retains its unique feel and creates a sense that you are somewhere very special. The mountains are similar to the highest parts of the Alps, but with far fewer people – the food is great, the wine is excellent and powder snow is virtually guaranteed”.
Cost: based on twin/double occupancy including return flights to Georgia via Istanbul, one night in Istanbul, 7 nights full board accommodation in Mestia, 6 days heliskiing with a minimum of 14 hours heli-flight time, group leader, ski guiding, all transport within Georgia.
The maximum group size for the trip is 12 persons, all sharing one A Star helicopter split into three groups of four people.
