Robert Speth To Join Gstaad Le Grand Bellevue's Le Grand Catering Team
At the end of this summer season, Robert Speth will depart the Chesery to assume responsibility at Le Grand Bellevue’s Le Grand Catering, whilst the hotel’s current head chef Marcus G. Lindner will move to oversee the gastronomic direction at the Chesery.
For over 35 years, Robert and Susanne Speth have been synonymous with the Chesery – acquired by Le Grand Bellevue in 2017 - providing years of world class knowledge and expertise that has marked the Chesery Gstaad as an exceptional dining experience, with inventive cuisine and unrivalled service. To say farewell, four special Sunday events have been organised at the Chesery over the course of the summer, including:
- 28 July: An evening of wine tasting with an array of world-renowned wine specialists
- 18 August: A presentation and tasting from Speth’s long-term and devoted suppliers, showcasing first class products from the Gstaad region
- 8 September: A gathering of Gault & Millau chefs including Martin Falsass, Andre Jaeger and Franz Wiget to cook together in the Chesery kitchen
- 22 September: A classical menu accompanied by live music to mark the Speths’ last cover at the Chesery
From then, Robert Speth will take over management of Le Grand Catering, based at Le Grand Bellevue hotel and catering for private parties large and small in the Gstaad region. Staying within the Le Grand Bellevue family, current head chef Marcus G. Lindner at fine dining restaurant LEONARD’s – who holds 17 Gault & Millau points and two Michelin stars to his name – will join the Chesery as Head Chef.
Beginning his career as a pastry chef in Ravensburg before training to become a chef under Albert Bouley at the Waldhorn, Robert Speth quickly found himself cooking his way to the top. Following stints under world-renowned chefs in Munich and Frankfurt, Speth joined the Chesery in 1984, where he was awarded a Michelin star as well as being named ‘Chef of the Year’ in 2005 by Gault & Millau. His knowledge and expertise will no doubt flourish at Le Grand Catering.
