Squaw Valley Has New Restaurants, Shops And Activities Open For 2019-20

Winter is on at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, with top-to-bottom skiing open at both mountains and feet of snow in the forecast. In addition to new winter offerings announced earlier this fall, including the new $11 million Treeline Cirque chairlift now open at Alpine Meadows, the resort is announcing additional new dining options, watering holes, retail stores and activities.

The Olympic House, located in The Village at Squaw Valley, will offer two new fast casual dining outlets. Open Dec. 6, SmOkehouse BBQ will feature satisfying side dishes and meaty mains smoked on-site like the “Three Little Pigs” sandwich: a garlic butter toasted brioche bun layered with jalapeno slaw, seared applewood smoked pork belly, overnight smoked pork shoulder and crispy bacon all drizzled with Carolina BBQ sauce and roasted garlic aioli. Just around the corner, Zeus Mediterranean will be serving up signature items like the lamb and beef gyro pita: spit-roasted marinated lamb and beef, shredded lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pickled veggies, baba ganoush and a house tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in a fresh grilled pita. Zeus Mediterranean is scheduled for a Dec. 16 opening. Both locations will operate daily 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. throughout the winter season and will have quick grab-and-go options available in addition to snacks, drinks and canned beer and wine. Seating is available throughout Olympic House as well as outside on the KT Deck.

In a continued effort to reduce plastic and other waste, Olympic House will exclusively serve using reusable plates, bowls and utensils, moving away from single-use plastic items. Beverages will continue to be served in single-use cups for the time being while a system for glassware is developed.

The Tram Car Bar  celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 14. The restored 70’s era Squaw Valley tram cabin has made its home on the Olympic House deck, serving drinks as the Aerial Tram soars behind it. Skiers and riders can duck in for a “Backscratcher” cocktail, a spicy take on the Moscow mule named for a favorite ski trick of the 70’s hot-dogging days. The 7,000-pound silver tram cabin is a nod to Squaw Valley’s storied past—the original logos and unique shape of the cabin will be the ideal après-ski photo op with the iconic Tram Face in the background. Tram Car Bar will serve PBR on draft, wine, bubbles, and other vodka cocktails, with a daily happy hour 3-4 p.m.  

Tremigo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar opens this December in a newly renovated and expanded space in the heart of The Village at Squaw Valley. Run by the same owners of the Auld Dubliner Irish Pub, Tremigo will serve signature Mexican dishes like “squacamole,” mahi mahi fish tacos and Molcajete, a hearty Mexican stew served in a traditional lava stone for sharing. Tremigo will have large booth seating, ideal for groups and families. 

The Village at Squaw Valley’s Wanderlust Yoga Studio is unveiling two new offerings this season: New Squaw Fit classes will be offered six times per week at the studio throughout the winter season. Designed with the winter athlete in mind, the full-body workout combines the primary elements of fitness: strength, agility, cardio and flexibility. Squaw Fit uses high-intensity interval training to build muscle and improve agility, and yoga stretches to improve flexibility and recovery. Participants can expect challenging circuits using dumbbells and body-weight exercises, plus energizing music and a much needed cool down. Wanderlust Yoga Studio’s motivating and supportive instructors welcome anyone seeking full-body conditioning: participants do not need to be winter sports enthusiasts to join. 

Wanderlust Yoga Studio is also hosting new Wedding Yoga, offering wedding day classes and bachelorette parties. Wedding Yoga provides classes for the bride and groom, friends and family, and the bride and bridesmaids to relax and connect before the big day. Wedding classes start at $120 and can be customized to your wedding party size. 

KTees Logowear opened Dec. 7 in The Village at Squaw Valley with Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows gear, including a limited line of throwback items with retired logos from both resorts.
