Badrutt’s Palace Introduces Curated Art Tours, Experiential Dining And Sleep Enhancement Programmes
This winter season, legendary Alpine outpost, Badrutt’s Palace, continues its flourishing renaissance through the introduction of seasonal activities in St. Moritz. Savouring the region’s evolving cultural scene, the Palace will introduce a number of immersive packages providing unrivalled access to the region’s foremost exhibitions and will for the first time take guests behind-the-scenes to experience culinary masterclasses with world-renowned chefs, a VIP kitchen party and wine tasting in the storied hotel wine cellars. Newly introduced wellness experiences will also ensure weary muscles are eased and restorative sleep achieved after a day on the slopes.
Contemplative Culture in the Clouds
To mark the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Engadin Art Talks from 25-26 January, Badrutt’s Palace is launching a dedicated 3-night ‘Art on a High’ package granting special access to nearby exhibitions on selected dates throughout the winter season. Building on its existing partnership with celebrated Swiss gallerists, Hauser & Wirth, whose first St. Moritz outpost opened in the hotel’s Palace Gallerie retail space earlier this year, hotel guests will be guided on an expert-led tour of the upcoming Alexander Calder exhibition. The Palace will also be partnering with nearby Muzeum Susch, brainchild of art collector Grażyna Kulczyk, to guide guests around the upcoming Carolee Schneemann exhibition. The following day, guests will have unrivalled access to the hotel archives where they can observe artefacts of yesteryear, showcasing the hotel’s fascinating 123-year history
Wine & Dine
Combining an ever-evolving approach to culinary innovation whilst ensuring the grandeur of yesteryear remains, the Palace will for the first-time grant a behind-the-scenes tour of their infamous kitchens and wine cellar through the launch of their inaugural wine and dine experiences. Guests will have the opportunity to learn from one of the Palace’s chef de cuisines and try their hand at signature dishes before joining the hotel’s head sommelier, Daniel Kis, in the Palace wine cellar home to 30,000 bottles for a candle-lit tasting. Kis will be on hand to share insight into the Palace’s fascinating wine aging history which is due to be brought back to life again this February as the hotel receives its first batch in several years to be aged. Evenings will culminate in the Krug Stübli, a Chalet style hut built into the wine cellar where guests can dine on Palace favourites’ black truffle risotto and cheese fondue.
Celebrity Supper Club
This season will see the hotel welcome its Michelin-starred celebrity chefs; Jason Atherton of King’s Social House, Andreas Caminada of IGNIV and Nobu of Matsuhisa as they host an exclusive evening kitchen party at the Palace on the 20 February 2020. Designed to celebrate the eclectic and forward-thinking approach to the Palace’s culinary offering, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the chefs’ respective specialties and why the Palace continues to offer one of the most varied culinary offerings in the Alps. On the 13 March, the Palace will also welcome Olivier Krug, sixth generation house director of the eponymous champagne house for an intimate, 30-guest culinary journey where guests can learn about Krug’s esteemed history and connection with the Palace. Additionally, from 3-6 January 2020, the executive pastry chef, Patrick Pailler from Café Pouchkin in Paris, will be visiting Badrutt’s Palace to offer a dessert wonderland in Le Grand Hall.
Sleep, ski, spa, repeat
For guests eager to reap the rewards of daily outdoor adventures with a good night’s sleep, the Palace’s newly launched sleep, ski and spa repeat experience is just the ticket. Days begin with an immune boosting breakfast to fuel the morning’s excursions which include one-on-one ski sessions, ice skating on the Palace’s own ice rink or even trialling the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympia bob run with a professional pilot, the world’s only natural and oldest bobsleigh track. Afternoons can be spent perusing nearby galleries, relaxing in Palace Wellness or indulging in one of the ‘sauna gondolas’; retired gondolas which have been restored and installed in the Palace garden for upmost relaxation both day and night.
Front row access
As ever, the 2019/2020 winter season will see a number of world-renowned events return to the iconic frozen lake opposite Badrutt’s Palace with hotel guests gaining unrivalled VIP access. Kicking off with the 35th snow polo world cup (24 January – 26 February) where the Badrutt’s Palace team will be defending last year’s title; events include the White Turf horse racing event (throughout February) and ICE classic car event (29 February).
