Aspen Snowmass Names Seven Seasonal Events For This Winter
Renowned for its world-class annual events – such as X Games, Aspen Gay Ski Week and Wintersköl – the ski resort of Aspen Snowmass is also host to multiple ongoing events throughout the winter, including exclusive dining experiences, family-friendly activities and live music nights. Aspen ahs picked seven of the best seasonal events this winter you should be sure not to miss on your next trip to Aspen Snowmass.
Full moon dinners at The Cliffhouse
Hosted only when the full moon is out (10 January, 9 February & 9 March), visitors to Aspen Snowmass can uphill ski or hike Tiehack on Buttermilk to enjoy dinner at Cliffhouse, a laid-back restaurant at the top of the mountain. The full moon lights the path for those making their way up the mountain when free hot chocolate is served around the Cowboy Cauldron from 5pm. Guests can enjoy à la carte dinner and snacks inside Cliffhouse from 6pm before skiing or snowboarding back down the mountain.
Ullr Nights
On Friday nights during the winter, Aspen Snowmass honours the Norse God of Snow — Ullr — with Ullr Nights, a night time winter wonderland party at Elk Camp on Snowmass. Visitors ride in the gondola up to Elk Camp for family-friendly outdoor winter activities such as tubing, riding the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster and snowbiking, with s'mores and hot chocolate provided by the bonfire. Indoor activities and entertainment are available in The Tent.
Snowcat dinners – Lynn Britt Cabin & Cloud Nine Bistro
Embark on a snowcat after lifts close and visit two of the most iconic dining spots in Aspen Snowmass: Cloud Nine Bistro on Aspen Highlands and Lynn Britt Cabin on Snowmass. Hosted on multiple nights through the winter season, visitors can enjoy a four-course meal with live music at either of the venues with picture-perfect mountain views. On Wednesdays, Lynn Britt Cabin also hosts a family-friendly chuckwagon dinner, with hot cider and live entertainment
Game of Stones
New this season in Snowmass is the Game of Stones curling series at the Base Village Ice Rink. Held at various times in December and February, teams of two will compete in a head-to-head elimination competition by sliding 40 pound granite rocks down the ice rink towards the target. The ice rink opened last season as part of the $600 million Base Village Development at Snowmass. Registration will occur at the ice rink prior to the event.
Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club
Unlike many other ski resorts around the world, the Aspen Skiing Company not only allows uphill traffic at its four mountains, but encourages it, with designated uphill trails and dedicated private lessons. Every Friday during the winter, the Cliffhouse restaurant on Buttermilk plays host to Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club. Visitors can enjoy breakfast in the restaurant after hiking up the mountain, whilst overlooking Pyramid Peak and the entire Maroon Creek Valley. Breakfast is served from 8:45-10am.
Powder Pancakes
There is nothing quite like a powder day on Aspen Snowmass’ four mountains. When it dumps eight inches or more overnight on each respective mountain, participating restaurants keep skiers fueled so they can enjoy a full day of shredding by serving free ‘Powder Pancakes’ with golden syrup from 10-11am
Hi-Fi Concert Series
Returning from 25 February with three shows for the season, the free Hi-Fi Concert Series will bring live music to Aspen Mountain Gondola Plaza, Snowmass Base Village and downtown Aspen. Top musical acts will join the stage, to create the perfect après ski party, where visitors will have the chance to win free goodies. Artists still to be announced but in previous years have included Snakehips, Turkuaz and Medicine for the People.
