Copper Mountain’s Events Lineup Embraces All Things Spring Through Closing Day
In the midst of the resort’s snowiest March on record, Copper Mountain is embracing the change of seasons with events representing the best of spring in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
After receiving 95 inches of fresh snow since March 1, Copper Mountain invites guests to take full advantage of spring skiing and riding in addition to a myriad of events and competitions taking place through closing day April 21.
10 Barrel Brewing Co. Snow Beach is Back
Spring celebrations kick off April 13 with the return of the 10 Barrel Snow Beach. Throughout the day, Burning Stones Plaza in Center Village will be the ultimate outdoor snow beach featuring oversized games, prize giveaways, and live music from Max Frost. Frost, a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist with a diverse background in blues, rock, R&B and hip-hop takes the main stage in Burning Stones Plaza at 3 p.m. In 2018, Frost released his newest album “Gold Rush” and has been touring North America.

USASA Nationals Returns as the Largest Snowboard and Freeskiing Event in the World
From March 29 to April 10, more than 1,900 athletes converge at Copper Mountain to compete at the 30th Annual USASA National Championships. USASA is the leader in the development of snowboard and freeski competitions in the U.S. with a mission to facilitate fun and fair events for all ages. The organization is made up of 32 series across the country that host over 500 events annually. The event invites top amateur athletes from around the nation to compete across five on-hill venues at Copper Mountain in disciplines such as halfpipe, slopestyle and boardercross. Many of the athletes who compete at USASA Nationals are considered to be on the path to becoming the next elite athletes.
Woodward Copper Celebrates 10 Years
On April 19-20, Woodward Copper will celebrate it’s 10th birthday with a two-day anniversary party at The Barn, a 19,400 sq. ft. indoor facility featuring Olympic-grade flybed trampolines, jumps to foam pits, a skate bowl and more. It all kicks off Friday, April 19 at 5 p.m. with live music from The Beloved Invaders. At 6 p.m., guests can enjoy a skate jam in the bowl and a guest pro skater followed by an autograph session.
On Saturday, April 20, the party kicks off at 1 p.m. at The Barn with $10 Intro and Drop-In Sessions, tie-dying with a special 10th anniversary t-shirt, button making, design your own trucker hat, a photo booth and more. Throughout the day enjoy Woodward Copper Summer Camp specials, a DJ performance, live spray paint artist exhibit, and dodgeball.
World’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Brunch
Hop on over to Copper for 65,000 eggs spread across over 2,500 acres on Sunday, April 21. With various free hunts for kids of all ages, children 3 and under will enjoy their own hunt while adults head up the mountain in search of 12 golden eggs. There will also be egg hunts for children ages 4-6 and 7-11. Don’t miss out on Easter Brunch at Kokopelli's in the Copper Conference Center including a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny from 7:30 -10 a.m.
Copper Announces Andy Grammer and The Struts as Sunsation Headliners
The 2018/19 winter season closes out with a celebratory weekend of free music and friendly competition at the 19th Annual Sunsation, April 20-21. On Saturday, April 20, pond skim meets slopestyle in Center Village for Red Bull Slopesoakers, giving skiers and boarders a chance to strut their stuff across floating rails, jumps and more.
Following the competition, a free concert featuring Andy Grammer. Andy Grammer has taken the music world by storm with a succession of anthemic pop hits, six of which are certified gold or better. His debut album featured the platinum singles “Keep Your Head Up” and “Fine By Me.” Andy's second album, Magazines or Novels, featured the quadruple platinum worldwide hit "Honey, I'm Good," which was one of the best-selling songs of 2015, and the certified gold anthem "Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)." Andy’s third full length album, The Good Parts, was released in December 2017 and includes his global smash hit "Fresh Eyes," which has become a global streaming phenomenon with over 350 million total streams, with a new album coming later this Spring.
The Sunsation fun continues on April 21 with the annual High Fives Retro Shred-A-Thon, a fundraiser that encourages participants to dress up in throwback gear and lap the American Eagle lift to raise funds for injured mountain action sports athletes. The day concludes with another free concert featuring The Struts. In just a few years, The Struts have found themselves massively embraced by some of the greatest icons in rock-and-roll history. Along with opening for The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Guns N’ Roses, the U.K.-bred four-piece band was hand-picked by Motley Crue to serve as the supporting act for their last-ever performances.
On their sophomore album YOUNG&DANGEROUS, The Struts let loose with the sing-along-ready and riff-heavy sound they’ve brought to stadiums and arenas around the world. Working with producers like Butch Walker (Weezer, Panic! At the Disco) and Sam Hollander (Fitz and the Tantrums, Neon Trees), the band adorns that sound with deeper grooves and more inventive textures, dreaming up a majestic glam-rock revamp that’s unabashedly fun but full of pure heart.
