New Skilift With The Wow Factor Marks Ischgl Opening
Ischgl’s winter season opens in four weeks’ time with a trademark new skilift to mark the launch of five months of superb skiing and boarding in the Silvretta Arena of the Austrian Tirol.
The ski village has earned a reputation for treating its guests to a new skilift season after season – always with the latest in design, comfort and technology. And with an eye-catching twist.
This winter’s innovation is a 6-seater chairlift with heated, racing car style seats and weatherhoods – and the backs of the chairs will depict alpine animals including marmot, chamois, hare and eagle.
These native stars of the mountain follow in the tracks of the singing superstars whose images were unveiled on the backs of the new 6-seater €12m Palinkopf chairlift last winter. And skiers and boarders delighted in riding up on chairs dedicated to the singers who have played the village’s season opening and closing concerts, including Robbie Williams, Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Lionel Richie.
The new Gampenbahn chairlift is part of a €16.5m development which encompasses a revamped self-service restaurant and a new luxury lodge restaurant. Ischgl Slopefood is in a streetfood design aimed at hungry snowsports fans who need a quick pit-stop; GampenalpeSki Lodge has a traditional Tirolean kitchen and is a treat for a more leisurely lunch.
Gampenbahn has 122 chairs and replaces a 30-year-old 4-seater chairlift, which has been sold on to a ski resort in Russia.
This month the four Paznaun village resorts of Ischgl, Galtür, Kappl and See have unveiled new websites to showcase their events, facilities and accommodation. The pages automatically adapt to the screensizes of the respective end devices thanks to the new Full Responsive Design, and so are optimally displayed on smart phones, tablets or on the computer desktop. The Ischgl App is also launched in a new design and is still available at no cost for both iOS and Android.
Ischgl’s slopes open on Thursday 22 November and two days later, on Saturday 24th, superstar Jason Derulo will perform the Top Of The Mountain opening concert; the season closes on Wednesday 1 May 2019, the day after rock star Lenny Kravitz celebrates the Top Of The Mountain closing concert.
