Fiercely Independent Panorama Mountain Resort Focuses On Even More Fun With Unique New Experiences
As consolidation continues apace in the North American mountain resort industry, Panorama remains fiercely independent and committed to delivering mountain resort experiences with a difference.
In recent years the resort has received awards and accolades from around the globe but is not resting on its laurels. “The #1 reason for visiting any mountain resort is surely fun, and we’re doing all we can to put more of it into each day. We’re making it easier to get to the incredible powder snow in Panorama’s monstrous alpine terrain, serving tasty food out of the coolest mobile kitchen in North America, and bringing real Après to the village”, said Steve Paccagnan, President and Chief Executive Officer.
MONSTER X - FACE YOUR FIERCE
Last winter, Panorama Mountain Resort opened new expert lines like The Monster, Spectre and Get Out!, accessed by a ridge hike or occasional tows behind a grooming machine. This season, a custom-built 13 passenger Snowcat will move skiers and riders from Outback Ridge to the top of Goldie Plateau, 4,265 feet (1,300m) above the village. With aircraft seating and a pumping sound system, the journey will be just as much fun as the tracks that follow. Panorama Season Pass holders can add unlimited access to Monster X for $299. Single ride and multi-ride packs will also be available.
DEEP TRACKS WITH MONSTER X
First turns, guaranteed! The envy of other skiers and riders, guaranteed. Monster X will leave the heart of Panorama’s village at 8:30am and deposit a maximum of 13 experts at the top of the Goldie Plateau in time for the very first powder runs of the day. Deep Tracks includes breakfast and is available for $1,200 per group, on request. Limited to one group per day.
SNOWLICIOUS MOBILE KITCHEN
In partnership with Prinoth, the Snowlicious Mobile Kitchen will roam the mountain serving a delicious selection of burritos, wine, beer, hot apple cider and other tasty snacks. From Goldie Plateau to the bottom of Sun Bowl, the new mobile kitchen will appear when fuel is needed for the next run. There’s nothing in Canada like it.
POWERED UP DINING
New this season, Monster X will rumble up to the renovated Mile 1 Hut for alpine fare and good times around the fire. Elkhorn Cabin diners will be able to enjoy a beverage or two and then ride in comfort back to the village far below. Travelling up the mountain in darkness with snowflakes swirling in the headlights will be a magical experience.
IMPROVED RESORT EATS & APRES
A new culinary team headed by Austrian-export, David Auer, will bring enhanced dining to resort restaurants and real après to the T-Bar and Grill, with a European twist. Prepare to be surprised and come ready for fun.
NEW SKI + RIDE PROGRAMS
32 years ago, Don and Heather Bilodeau introduced Ski with the Pros, and it’s a long-running tradition at Panorama Mountain Resort. This year the event pays tribute to Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) stalwart, Martin Jean. Mr. Jean is retiring after 40 years at the forefront of ski teaching. Ontario’s Steve Young and Ben Surette from Nova Scotia are just two of the top-flight professionals leading the 2019 program.
ONGOING INVESTMENT IN SNOWMAKING & GROOMING
The resort already has one of the largest snowmaking systems in North America, which gives incredible insurance when Mother Nature deviates from the norm. Operation has been automated to ensure maximum energy and water efficiency; machines can now be powered up or down the moment conditions change. Last winter, Panorama was the first resort in British Columbia to open to the public – the most reliable snow conditions will draw Canadian, Swiss and Austrian racers to the resort for early season race training in early November.
The quality of Panorama corduroy is recognized year-after-year, and for the 2018-19 season close to $1M has been invested in slope grooming, snow grooming and snowmaking capability. Through the warm season a new mountain mower trimmed vegetation on all main trails, which now need less snow to open. Two new Prinoth winch snow grooming machines will ensure that the resort will buff-out more piste each night than ever before.
