Snowboarding Developing In Serbia
From 18th-23rd February 2018, 18 young riders and eleven coaches from Serbia, Croatia, Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina came together for six days of learning and development with the support of FIS Solidarity.
Initiated by the Serbian Ski Association, together with the University of Belgrade, the aim of the initiative was to improve developing snowboard nations’ knowledge and competences to advance the sport in these nations. It was led by experts Domen Dijak, a former rider from Slovenia, and Robert Ropret, Professor at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education at the University of Belgrade.
The camp featured theoretical sessions on biomechanics, modern training methods and long-term athlete development. In extensive practical sessions at Kopaonik ski resort, the athletes and coaches performed exercises in the snow park with a strong focus on improving their technique and coordination, which was supported by video analysis.
Milan Bozic, Secretary General of the Serbian Ski Association commented: “Snowboarding in Serbia is popular and increasing every year. Such technical seminars and camps are very important for improving knowledge and to teach youngsters and coaches modern training methods which will help to develop their abilities in sport careers, which reflect on quality and development of snowboarding.”
