Quiksilver Crowns Winner Of 2018 Young Guns Snow Competition
The Quiksilver Young Guns Snow competition just wrapped up in epic conditions in Whistler. Initiated in 2015, this unique online competition is open to every rider under the age of 17, giving the talents of tomorrow the opportunity to shine alongside established Quiksilver legends such as Travis Rice, Austin Sweetin or Sammy Carlson.
Entering the competition is simple – all you need is a short edit of yourself shredding, submitted via Instagram tagging @quiksilver and #YGSnowContest. Hundreds of entries later, 4 lucky finalists of each category were invited to a trip of a lifetime, getting the chance to showcase their skills alongside their idols. No guidelines, no rules – just some great riding on frozen water and a world of opportunities.
As for the snowboarders, head judge Austen Sweetin finished the event saying “The future of snowboarding is in good hands.” Completely blown away by the level of riding the four finalists Miles Flacon (USA, 16 years), Jadyn Chomlack (USA, 15 years), Jack MacDougall (CAN, 17 years) and Cooper Whittier (USA, 16 years) pulled of in Whistler, Sweetin crowned Jack MacDougall as Young Guns Snow champion after a ridiculous amount of fun in the Canadian resort. On the first day,
Quiksilver had a special surprise for the contenders: Backcountry legend Travis Rice made an unexpected cameo appearance taking the group heli-boarding. The next three days were spent ripping around the mountain, lapping the park, bombarding the lodge, letting loose and making this an unforgettable experience for everybody.
This year, Quiksilver also gave some special props to up and coming creative talent, giving 1000 $ of cash to the most creative entry. Congratulations to @cayden_wood10 and @zebpowell!
