What’s New For Summer 2018 At Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows

While skiers and snowboarders enjoyed their last days on the slopes over Memorial Day weekend, Squaw Valley prepares for sunny skies ahead with a summer season filled with festivals, alfresco dining and poolside relaxation at High Camp, outdoor adventure, competitions and more. This summer The Village at Squaw Valley celebrates the 10th anniversary of the legendary Bluesdays event series while High Camp will see its first summer with new and renovated dining options.
 
ELEVATED SUMMER EXPERIENCES AT HIGH CAMP
 
Updated Dining, Thursday Happy Hour and Live Music at High Camp
High Camp, located at 8,200 feet and accessed by the scenic Aerial Tram, will have new dining options this summer with espresso, fresh pastries made on site and grab-and-go hiking lunches at the new High Camp Marketplace.  The newly remodeled Granite Bistro offers seated dining with stunning views of the High Sierra and a menu featuring local items from the Tahoe Food Hub. Thursdays at Granite Bistro will feature a Reverse Happy Hour from 11am-12pm with specials on food and drink. In addition to walk-up service at Umbrella Bar, pool-goers can enjoy chairside food and drink delivery from the Poolside Grill and Umbrella Bar beginning June 29, with hours extended until 5pm every Saturday. The resort will have live music on the Granite Bistro patio on Tuesdays beginning June 26 and live DJ beats every Friday beginning June 29, from 12pm-3pm. Poolside Grill will open on June 29 and will be open daily through August 19 and weekends from August 20 through Labor Day.
 
Verve Coffee at High Camp
The Santa Cruz-based coffee is coming to Squaw Valley this summer and will be offered at the High Camp Marketplace beginning June 15. Verve came to be through the serendipitous union of surf, sweat and a love of live and living. Their roots remain planted in Santa Cruz, where they roast their coffee on vintage roasters and enjoy the endless surf of the rugged California Coast. New to High Camp, Verve coffee will bring traditional California vibes to 8,200’.
 
New Aerial Tram Hours and High Camp Activities
Beginning June 15, the Aerial Tram at Squaw Valley will expand operating hours, open daily from 10am to 5pm. The Aerial Tram will be open daily from June 15-September 3 as well as Saturdays and Sundays June 9-10, September 8-9, September 15-16, September 22-23 and Friday through Sunday September 28-30. Enjoy an aerial climb over 2,000 feet from the base of Squaw Valley to High Camp, located at 8,200 feet, with 360 degree views of Lake Tahoe’s high alpine beauty. Daily activities at High Camp including roller skating, hiking trails, outdoor climbing tower, the Olympic Museum, disc golf, lawn games, and more. SUMMER FESTIVALS
 
Bluesdays in the Village Hits 10-year Milestone
The tenth summer of Bluesdays in the Village at Squaw Valley returns this June with its best line-up yet featuring talented blues musicians. The free, family-friendly concerts have become a summertime staple in Squaw Valley and will take place every Tuesday from June 12 through September 4 in the Events Plaza from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participating musicians include a returning list of legends including Coco Montoya and Mark Hummel’s Golden State/Lone Star Revue, and new additions including Ron Artis II and The Cedric Burnside Project. The High Camp area will also get in on the Bluesdays action this summer, with musicians playing Tuesdays on the Granite Bistro deck from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Discounted Aerial Tram Sightseeing & Adventure packages will be available on Tuesdays with $10 off adult and $5 off youth tickets. New Programming and “Wanderbus” for Wanderlust Festival July 19-22, 2018
Wanderlust, the largest yoga lifestyle event in the world, returns to Squaw Valley for its annual four day festival in the mountains featuring yoga experiences, top music performances, farm-to-table dining, a lecture series including keynote speaker and New York Times bestselling author Kyle Cease, and more. Yoga talent will include Elena bower, Eoin Finn, Shiva Rea, Noah Maze and Donovan McGrath, founder of  Amplified yoga, will also lead classes. New this year, attendees can ride the Wanderbus to Squaw Valley with pick-up locations in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, and Reno. New Hot August Nights “Show-n-Shine” at Squaw Valley June 9, 2018
New this year, the Village at Squaw Valley and North Lake Tahoe will welcome a “Shown-n-Shine” event with Nevada based Hot August Nights on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Hot August Nights is a celebration of classic cars and rock n’ roll in a majestic mountain setting with awards, live entertainment, exceptional shopping and outdoor dining under the peaks of Squaw Valley. Hot August Nights will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free for spectators and open to all 1976 and older vehicles with free entry for all 2018 Hot August Nights registered participants. Free Wildflower Peeping with The North Face Guided Hikes
This summer enjoy daily guided hikes through Squaw Valley’s unique alpine microclimate. The North Face Guided Hikes take place June 16-September 3 at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday on June 9-10. This free outdoor adventure begins at High Camp at 8,200 feet, accessible via the Aerial Tram. Hikers of all levels can enjoy spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada, reach new heights including Emigrant Peak and Shirley Lake and spot flora and fauna such as the California Snow Flower, Yellow Bellied Marmot, and Golden Eagle. Squaw Kids Adventure Camp
Back for the third summer in a row, Squaw Kids Adventure Camp will be helping kids explore and discover the outdoors. Squaw Kids’ fun, friendly, and experienced counselors will lead campers through activities like nature crafts, Aerial Tram rides, swimming, geocaching, scavenger hunts, yoga, biking, cooking class, and more. New Self-Guided Hikes with the Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows App
New for summer 2018, walkers and hikers in the High Camp area can use the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows app for a self-guided hike to visit key locations and learn more about the area’s terrain, wildlife and history. Beacons located in the High Camp area will guide app-users through an interpretive tour, snow-cover permitting. Additionally, app users will have the ability to access summer hiking maps, track hiking performance, and find friends on hiking trails. Activity automatically integrates with Apple Watch Activity App and the Health app on iPhone.

New REI Outessa Women’s Retreat August 2-5, 2018
REI Outessa offers retreats for women who want to push their limits and learn new skills through immersive experiences during a three-day weekend. New this summer, an Outessa retreat will be held in the inspiring mountain setting of Squaw Valley August 2-5, 2018. Broken Arrow Skyrace Returns June 15-17 with New 10k Course
The Broken Arrow Skyrace, California’s exclusive skyrunning event presented by Salomon, returns to iconic Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows on June 15-17, 2018. The three-day event consists of four distances, each showcasing the beauty of Lake Tahoe, the “Jewel of the Sierra.” This June, elite and recreational participants alike will share an unforgettable trail running experience “where the mountains meet the sky” on the high alpine terrain of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. New this year, the Broken Arrow Skyrace will feature a new 10k course. Along the way, runners are treated to spectacular views of Lake Tahoe’s emerald-blue waters and Squaw Valley’s unmistakable high alpine terrain. Squaw Valley Half Marathon and 8 Miler
Big Blue Adventure events celebrate the best of diverse terrain and welcome thousands of outdoor enthusiasts each year. On June 10, the Big Blue Adventure Squaw Valley Half Marathon starts and finishes at the iconic Village at Squaw Valley. The course is scenic, fast and flat, and features mainly paved trail through the valley and along the Truckee River. The Big Blue Adventure 8 Miler course is perfect for all abilities and travels alongside the Truckee River with little elevation gain. The Half Marathon will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the 8 Miler will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration details can be found here.
