Free Music On The Mountain Concert Series Kicks Off Saturday At Bogus Basin
The summer season continues to ramp up at Bogus Basin. Today, the nonprofit recreation area announced the headlining acts for its popular “Music on the Mountain” concert series. The series, sponsored by 10 Barrel Brewing Co., launches on Saturday, June 30 and features free live music throughout the day in the newly revitalized Simplot Base Area. It has been expanded to five Saturdays this summer.
“The Music on the Mountain concerts are a great way to spend a summer afternoon with friends and family,” said Bogus Basin Director of Mountain Operations Nate Shake. “Right now, the wildflowers are in full bloom, temperatures are always cooler than in the valley, and the air a bit fresher.” The live music will play from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. from the base area stage with the feature act, Matt Hopper & The Roman Candles, beginning at 4:00 p.m. A variety of food and beverage options will be available in the base area, including the new Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse. From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (while supplies last), volunteers from Bogus Basin’s Black Diamond sponsor, Albertson’s, will hand out free fresh fruit and water on the plaza outside Simplot Lodge.
Bogus Basin opened for 7-day a week operations on June 22. Guests are being welcomed to a base area that has been transformed by the addition of a 150- seat plaza area, large expanse of lawn, and the Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse, a full-service food & beverage outlet. Those additions, along with the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, bike rentals, and other activities, have transitioned the area into an increasingly popular summer destination for people interested in escaping the heat and getting into nature to enjoy hiking and biking on a growing network of trails.
In 2017, Bogus Basin invested $5 million in improvements to the base area, which was under construction for much of the summer. That investment is now paying off as residents and visitors discover and enjoy the beauty and accessibility of the area, located just 16 miles above Boise.
