Doppelmayr Supports Tourism Development In Russia
In Vienna, Doppelmayr and the corporation Kurorty Severnogo Kavkasa have entered into a cooperation agreement aimed at developing tourism in Russia. With this move, the world market leader in ropeway construction is underlining the importance of the Russian market and the good business relations forged during a 20-year local presence.
During the working visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vienna, Doppelmayr signed a cooperation agreement with the corporation Kurorty Severnogo Kavkasa on June 5, 2018, for the joint development of tourism in the North Caucasian Federal District. This marks a clear commitment to the collaboration enjoyed with Russian companies to date and to future support in this area. Thomas Pichler, joint managing director of Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, stressed the importance of the move. “Every individual ropeway project that we accomplish with our Russian customers is a building block for tourism development,” says Pichler. For Maksim Sinelnikov, head of Doppelmayr Russia Ltd, the manufacturer’s Russian subsidiary in Samara, sees the cooperation with the Russian corporation as highly significant: “Our products and what we have to offer make us a dependable partner for Russia.” The corporation Kurorty Severnogo Kavkasa manages the project aimed at developing the tourist region in the south of the country, which will also include the operation of three ski resorts. These are the popular Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia, the legendary Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria and the new resort of Veduchi in Chechnya, which was opened less than six months ago.
Doppelmayr ropeways make a valuable contribution toward the popularity of tourist destinations – in summer as well as winter. They also demonstrate their capabilities as a means of transport and in providing value added to existing infrastructure. Russia has numerous attractive regions where visitors can practice winter sports, spend their vacations and leisure time or discover the many experiences that cities have to offer. The ropeways supplied by Doppelmayr have already made their mark on tourism in Russia and will continue to set new benchmarks in the future.
Doppelmayr is the leading ropeway manufacturer worldwide. The company has been present in the Russian market for over 20 years and now has two local sites – in Sochi and Samara. Turnkey project implementation, direct customer proximity, good business relations with local companies and consequently high value creation in Russia are all part of Doppelmayr’s strengths. The company boasts highly successful collaborations from St. Petersburg and Krasnaya Polyana to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, with almost 90 ropeway installations completed to date. The major sporting event of the 2014 Winter Olympics represented a milestone in the shared history of Russia and Doppelmayr. In and around Sochi, Doppelmayr was contracted to build 40 ropeway installations, enabling the company to demonstrate the capabilities of its products and personnel. At Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, travelers can also enjoy the very latest Doppelmayr project: a recently installed Cable Liner providing a convenient link and a comfortable ride between two terminals.
