Breaking news from the IOC
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that Freeski Big Air (men and women) will be one of seven new disciplines added to the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games programme. This means that we will host the first FIS Freeski Big Air World Cup event as an Olympic discipline.
Freeski Big Air is an exciting event and will appeal equally to athletes and spectators. This IOC announcement will also ensure that the field that for our event in September should be of really high quality and New Zealand Freeski athletes also have a history of success in the Big Air event. Winter Games NZ Ambassador Jossi Wells and his brother Jackson have both claimed X-Games Bronze medals in this discipline.
Snowboard Big Air elevates to Elite level
Snowboarders Alert! The FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup is now sanctioned at World Snowboard Elite Level by the World Snowboard Federation. This is the highest level there is and allows riders to earn points towards their World Snowboard Points rank. Just another great reason to come and compete at the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ
