Arc’teryx Steps Into Winter With New Freeride Touring Collection
Freeride Touring demands that backcountry skiers and snowboarders step into winter on its terms in order earn the right to carve their way down pristine, untracked powder. Navigating a full day of grueling ascents and aggressive descents requires lightweight clothing that can meet the demands of shifting output levels and unpredictable conditions.
Working as a system, ARC’TERYX’s new Whiteline Freeride Touring products deliver the comprehensive weather protection, freedom of movement and thermal regulation required for deep backcountry days—doing it with an aesthetic rooted in the soul of Freeride Touring.
Designed specifically to save on weight for easier ascents without sacrificing ski-essential features, ARC’TERYX’s new Fall/Winter 2018 collection offers an effortless fit; articulated to allow for efficiency of movement. Performance Gore-TexPro offersultimate protection from the environment. At the same time, our base and mid-layers move moisture away from your body, keeping you dry and comfortable throughout the day, even during high output activities.
The Rush LT Jacket: Light, Durable Backcountry Protection
Weighing a mere 430 grams, the new Rush LT’s heft will never slow you down. But just because it’s feather-light doesn’t mean its light on features. The jacket’s minimalist design doesn’t forgo ski-essential features. Primarily constructed out of waterproof, windproof N40p Gore-Tex Pro, the Rush LT Jacket provides durable, breathable protection from the elements. High wear areas around the shoulders and hips are reinforced by robust N80p-X Gore-tex Pro. A helmet compatible StormHood offers adjustable, full-coverage head protection, outstanding freedom of movement and peripheral vision. During high output portions of your day, quick heat dumps are made possible by the jacket’s WaterTight pit zippers, even while wearing a pack like the Alpha SK 32 Backpack.
Two pack-compatible chest pockets further the Rush LT’s ease of use by allowing you to keep small electronics and other backcountry essentials close at hand. Thanks to the jacket’s ski-friendly feature set, you’ll seldom have to suffer cold fingers. Our Cohaesive hood and hem adjusters make adjusting the Rush LT’s fit exceptionally easy, even while wearing heavy gloves. While Slide N’ Loc attachment points located at the bottom of the jacket make it possible to secure compatible pants to help keep powder where it belongs—on the slopes and away from your body.
The Ryze Hoody: Performance for the Uptrack
Designed for uptrack touring ARC’TERYX’s new Ryze Hoody provides thermal regulation during your tour’s high output ascents. Using lightweight, highly air permeable materials and insulation, this minimalist backcountry midlayer self-regulates to prevent overheating while providing light wind protection and measured warmth. Used in concert with outer and base layer garments from the Whiteline Freeride Touring Collection, the Ryze Hoody provides ultimate protection from the elements.
The Ryze Hoody’s trim, articulated design ensures an easy fit under a hard shell while at the same time ensuring a fit that moves with your body, improving thermal efficiency.
To provide an optimal balance of airflow and wind resistance, they chose highly breathable Fortius Air 20 as a face fabric. Light and efficient Octa Loft Synthetic Insulation provides thermal protection while maintaining a comfortable microclimate. These materials work in concert to create a fully breathable mid layer, designed to keep you dry and comfortably warm during high output segments of your time in the backcountry.
The comfort that the Ryze Hoody provides during accents and descents is furthered by the presence of a low profile, adjustable hood--with its streamlined design, the hood fits comfortably under a helmet for an additional layer of protection.
Despite its streamlined fit, the Ryze Hoody doesn’t forgo utility. Medium-volume zippered hand pockets—sized to securely stash a toque, gloves or smartphone—are positioned to remain accessible, even while wearing a pack or a harness.
