60 Year Celebration At Wildcat. Fireworks, Deals, and Activities.
Wildcat Mountain has always been an iconic name in the ski industry, and for good reason. Incredible views of the Presidential Range, tremendous annual snowfall, high elevation, and northwestern exposure assuring a long ski season are all factors that have led to Wildcat’s long continued success over the years. It was on January 25, 1958, that the mountain would be changed forever when it opened the country’s first gondola.
This week, Wildcat Mountain is celebrating their rich history with lift ticket specials, events, and activities, from January 25 – January 28. Activities include a “lift-opening” ceremony with one of Wildcat’s original vice president’s and gm’s, Stan Judge, plus birthday cake, a historical memorabilia display, après entertainment with radio boston.com, a huge fireworks display, and more.
“Wildcat has always been a unique mountain and a special place for our guests to return to year after year. We’re looking forward to celebrating the past 60 years of skiing in the notch and can’t wait to see what the next 60 years brings us” stated Brian Heon, general manager of Wildcat Mountain.
It also happens to be military salute weekend at both Attitash Mountain Resort and the Wildcat Mountain was active, retired, and veteran military personnel is invited to ski for free with discounts offered to their families.
“We owe so much to those who have selflessly defended our country. This is just one way that we like to extend our thanks. Our resorts are proud to offer free skiing & riding to all who have served.” Stated John Lowell, President of Attitash & Wildcat Mountain.

As part of the 60th-anniversary celebration, wildcat mountain partnered up with Tuckerman brewing company to create a special ale that would be available to mug club members and the public at the Wildcat Pub. The ale has been affectionately named, hairball ale and is available in the pub to all guests 21+. The tap handle, of course, features a custom design handle of a cat by Tuckerman Brewing Company.
