EOG Selects Munich To Host Outdoor Trade Fair From 2019
The new venue for OutDoor has been found - it's Messe München. 94 percent of the EOG members participated in the vote, 65 percent of those gave their vote to Munich. In the summer of 2019, the first OutDoor will take place in its new home, where it will be presented with a new concept.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the European Outdoor Group (EOG) for the confidence it has expressed in us,” said Klaus Dittrich, the Chairman and CEO of Messe München. “We have been working closely with the EOG ever since the trade association was created in 2003. We are now looking forward to intensifying this partnership even more. Messe München will now work with members of the EOG and turn OutDoor into a cutting-edge industry platform.
In association with the ISPO Group, Messe München has nearly 50 years of international expertise in the outdoor and sports industry. This includes the world’s leading trade fair ISPO Munich and the two successful subsidiary trade fairs ISPO Shanghai and ISPO Beijing. Dittrich said: “OutDoor is the perfect partner for the ISPO Group with its range of products."
John Jansen, EOG president, comments: “Vision 2020 has been a robust, inclusive and transparent process. We have communicated openly and frequently with a huge number of people and organisations, and that led to the presentation of three very strong and distinct proposals. The final decision was taken in a truly democratic manner and the strength of the vote for Messe München is a clear sign of unity and determination from the membership. We therefore look forward to building the new show with Messe München from 2019 onwards.“
Jansen adds: “We are grateful to all of the applicants for their efforts in what was a hard, but fair competition. We would also like to single out a truly special mention for Messe Friedrichshafen, who have worked hard with us over the last years to present a great platform for our sector. This year is the 25th anniversary of OutDoor in Friedrichshafen and while it will undoubtedly be tinged with sadness, we look forward to it being a brilliant celebration of all those years.”
