Darn Tough Vermont Warming More Than Just Feet This Season With Vermont Foodbank
For the second year, Darn Tough Vermont, the fastest growing American manufacturer of premium performance outdoor and lifestyle socks, has donated 100% of their profits from online sales on Giving Tuesday to the Vermont Foodbank. Darn Tough fans turned their holiday purchases into an opportunity to do good on the global day of giving that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and at the end of the day, Darn Tough donated over 46,000 meals to the local community.
In addition, on December 4 a team of Darn Tough employees volunteered their time at the foodbank. Over the course of the morning they packed 245 boxes, representing over 6,700 meals headed to hungry Vermonters, as part of theCommodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). In the end, the Darn Tough team had sorted through an astounding 26,000 pounds of food and secured meals for 245 adults for the coming month. We are committed to ensuring that this vibrant state remains healthy and knowing that one in four of our neighbors is struggling with hunger, we saw an opportunity to help,” explains Ric Cabot, Darn Tough President and CEO.
And help Darn Tough fans did. With the proceeds of the Giving Tuesday sales, Vermont Foodbank will be able to feed approximately 130 families of 4 for one month. “Hunger is a year-round problem and it’s especially tough around the holiday season.
