2019 Freeride Junior World Championship Roster Is Live!

The roster of the top 60 young talents who will be competing in the world’s premier junior freeride event is now available HERE. Get a preview of who to watch at the Freeride Junior World Championship (FJWC) in Kappl, Austria, March 13-15.

The FJWC will see many new athletes this year with a good amount of last years’ competitors having moved on to FWQ. The proving ground will be wide open for emerging talents to showcase their skills on the world stage in the Austrian Tyrol this March. 60 riders from 4 continents: 28 ski men, 12 ski women, 13 snowboard men, 7 snowboard women will make up this year’s FJWC roster. 6 final spots will remain open for the taking (top 3 ski men, and the top 1 rider from the other 3 categories) from the Freeride Junior Tour (FJT) region 1 ranking, after the 3* event in Andorra in early March.

SKI MEN
Ski men will see a plethora of new riders and strong returning competitors for 2019. Jon Clay Patterson (USA) training out of Crested Butte will be one to watch with his aggressive fluid style and unique line choices. 2018 FJT champion Xavier Thiébaud (GBR), will be amongst a strong contingent of athletes coming to compete from Verbier. Alistair Garland (NZL) has been proving himself by dominating the New Zealand (NZ) events this summer and will definitely be a podium threat. Tenra Katsuno (JPN) from Niseko is as hungry as ever to return to Kappl and promising 16-year-old rookie, Simon Hillis (CAN) from Red Mountain will be challenging the older athletes.

SKI WOMEN
2018 Europe Oceania Junior champion and defending FJWC champion, Marie Bovard (SUI) will return to Kappl eager to defend her title and to hold her own against 2018 North American junior champion, Britta Winans (USA) from Squaw Valley and Olivia McNeill (CAN) from Whistler, two competitors looking to dethrone her.

SNOWBOARD MEN
Nathan Bromley (USA) from Lake Tahoe, who won the North American Championships in 2018 will be one of the favorites for Region 2. A few talented FJWC veterans will be back in Kappl including Rémi Benamo (SUI) and Martin Aeby (FRA), while many dark horses from Europe, NZ, and North America will surely look to challenge the 2019 favorites.

SNOWBOARD WOMEN
2018 North American junior champion Cali Loeb (USA) from Mount Baker, who just began her competitive freeride career last year, has earned her spot at the event with her smooth and playful style. 2018 FJT champion, Zoe Macgeorge (SUI) at only 15 years old and the highly motivated and talented Anna Martinez (FRA) from Chamonix, will both be the ones to watch this year.
