FIS race series crowns national champions in Tiffindell Resort, South Africa
With a total of twenty FIS races for men and ladies held over six days, the South African ski resort of Tiffidell saw a lot of action in the last days of July. Slalom races took place in the different categories of CIT Arnold Lunn World Cup, Entry League and FIS level, as well as the South African National Championships.
In total, a start field of 52 participants from eleven nations attended the events, which took place in ideal conditions.
In the open National Championships, the top three athletes in senior ladies category were Reece Bell, GBR (daughter of former top British downhiller Martin and niece of BBC commentator Graham), Marjolein Decroix (BEL) and Beatrice Goulet (FRA), with Rachel Elizabeth Olivier as the best South African starter. On the men’s side, Frantisek Prikryl (CZE) led the way, ahead of Thomas Cherry (GBR) and Evan Semet (USA) with Connor Wilson as best South African.
In the junior categories, the victories went to Marjolein Decroix (BEL) and Arnaud de Galbert (FRA) with Rachel Elizabeth Olivier and Olivier Benjamin as the South African national title winners.
The organisers have now released a video of the competition action.
