Copper Mountain: Construction Work Going Well On New American Eagle And American Flyer Lifts
Copper Mountain, and its parent company, POWDR, announced continued enhancements to the way guests access the mountain’s world-class, naturally divided terrain. The planned upgrades to replace the American Eagle and American Flyer lifts with high-speed cabin and bubble-style lift service are slated to debut during the 2018-19 ski season.
American Flyer lift,
A Leitner Poma high-speed 6-person chair with bubble enclosures is set to replace the high-speed quad known as the American Flyer lift, offering a more comfortable ride and a 33 percent increase in uphill capacity. The new lift will primarily serve the easy and intermediate side of the resort’s unique naturally-divided terrain and also will provide expedited access to Copper’s advanced high alpine bowls.

The chairs, cables and terminals have been removed.
JUNE 25
Excavation has begun to build a structure that will be located at the top terminal. This structure will be used to house the chairs overnight and during the summer months to preserve their condition.
JULY 11
The towers were flown out via helicopter and it was quite the sight to see! This part of the operation was done in just few hours. Digging for the new towers has already begun.
JULY 24
Construction on the top terminal has begun. A foundation is being poured and the size of the building to come is impressive. You can see the construction workers for scale.

The walls are coming along nicely! Lift tower digging and concrete pouring continues down the hill so expect to see lots of construction activity in Center Village very soon.

The chairs, cables and terminals have been removed. The removal of the towers has begun. As the snow continues to melt, Leitner Poma and Copper's staff will begin construction of the new lift!
JUNE 25
Excavation has begun at the location of the new top terminal. Next to this terminal will be a structure that will house both the gondolas and chairs to preserve their condition.
JULY 24
A snow vehicle maintenance shop is set to be built off the top of the American Eagle lift. It will house snowcats and other essential equipment needed on the mountain. This will save a significant amount of time and fuel as currently, all snowcats have to make their way back to Vehicle Maintenance in East Village each day.

Top terminal and tower digging continues. You may be wondering where the old towers may have gone. They were trucked down the hill versus being flown out!
