Montenius Publishes The List Of The World’s 100 Largest Ski Areas 2017/18
The winter of 2016/17 has been difficult in parts of the skiing world. Nevertheless the ski resorts around the globe experienced a lot of investment activity in the summer of 2017. Once again, the areas in the Alps came to the fore, albeit less so the very large areas than the ski areas beyond the top 10. The results of these on the rankings of the ski resorts around the globe are shown in the current report "The list of the world’s 100 largest ski areas" for the 2017/18 season. The report is available in English and German language versions.
On 52 pages the report which was updated and expanded for the 2017/18 season, includes lineups of the 100 largest ski areas with regard to the vertical transport capacity, length of the runs in kilometers, extent in square kilometers, vertical drop, longest runs and also the skier visits. The report is based on detailed own measurements and an analysis of data on more than 10,000 lifts worldwide. A ranking of the world's highest ski resorts has also been added. New is the ranking of the world's top 50 resorts with regard to skiable area in hectares.
The conclusion of the report provides an interesting comparison of key figures on the basis of the data presented: transport capacity per hectare of skiable area, runs per square kilometer or skier visits per 1 million vertical transport meters are just a few.
As always, the report concludes with an interesting comparison of key figures based on the data presented: transport capacity per kilometer of runs, runs per square kilometer or skier visits per per 1 million vertical transport meters are just a few.
