Bergans CEO Resigns

There has been a change of leadership at the outdoor brand Bergans of Norway: Because CEO Leif Holst-Liaeker and the Supervisory Board could not agree on a joint roadmap for the future of the company, Holst-Liaeker has submitted his immediate resignation. This was announced by Bergans of Norway in a statement on Monday.

The new CEO will be the former Supply Chain Director Jan Tore Jensen. "He knows the history, the company and the employees well. The Executive Board is therefore certain that Bergans will continue to be in good hands in the future," it says in the communication.

In 2015, Holst-Liaeker succeeded CEO Ragnar Jensen, who had headed the company since 1991. Under Holst-Liaeker, Bergans of Norway began a restructuring process, including the closure of Bergans USA and the sale of Bergans Russia, which cost 42 million Norwegian kroner (approx. 4.4 million euros) in 2016.

According to Norwegian media reports, there were disagreements with the Supervisory Board, in particular due to rising losses. Bergans of Norway's deficits have risen from 5.7 million Norwegian kroner (590,000 euros) to 18.9 million Norwegian kroner (1.97 million euros) since Holst-Liaeker took office.
