FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis Attends “Host City 2017” Event
Leading figures from the world of sport governance and major event ownership convened in Glasgow on 28th and 29th November for the Host City 2017 Exhibition and Conference. Under the theme ‘Winning from Urban Events’, Host City 2017 highlighted the issues and opportunities facing stakeholders in the major events business.
FIS was represented by its Secretary General Sarah Lewis, who participated in the opening high-level panel discussion on the topic “Who benefits from major events?”
Other speakers included Sir Craig Reedie (WADA President), Patrick Baumann (President of GAISF, Secretary General of FIBA and President of Lausanne 2020), Paul Bush (OBE, Director of Events, VisitScotland) and Richard Brinkman (Commercial Director, Nielsen Sports).
Sarah Lewis commented: “Host City provided a useful opportunity to communicate the many opportunities of organising major FIS events for promotional, tourism and sports legacy purposes. A high number of interested cities, regions and Organisers were present at Host City and the exchanges between rights holders such as the International Federations, National Associations and Organisers was valuable in view of achieving each parties’ objectives.”
