250 Skiing & Snowboarding Santas To Take To The Slopes Of Sunday River During 18th Annual Santa Sunday

Two-hundred and fifty skiing and snowboarding Santas will take to Maine’s slopes in the name of charity during the 18th annual Santa Sunday event at Sunday River Resort on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
“There is nothing more festive than watching a couple hundred Santas schuss down the mountain together,” Caroline Ochtera, Event Manager for Sunday River Resort, says. “It’s an incredible way to come together for a good cause and get into the holiday spirit.”
Now in its 18th year, Santa Sunday raises money to benefit the area communities surrounding Sunday River Resort through a Maine Community Foundation donor-advised fund called the Sunday River Community Fund.
The Sunday River Charitable Fund is a donor-advised fund housed at the Maine Community Foundation which assists local nonprofit organizations in improving the quality of life in Sunday River’s surrounding community. Past recipients include the Bryant Pond Learning Center, the Androscoggin River Watershed Council, and the Bethel Library Association.
The event has become so popular that today's online registration lasted only 10 minutes.
During Santa Sunday, 250 pre-registered Saint Nicks go through a required check-in where resort elves collect their $15 minimum donation and inspect attire. All participating Kris Kringles must participate in full attire, including the red Santa hat, coat, and pants; white beard, and belt.
In receipt of giving back back, participants receive a free lift ticket to use the morning of the event, as well as another lift ticket to use any time between December 4 and December 15, 2017.
