160 Skiing Santas Spread Ho-Ho-Holiday Cheer On Sunday River’s Slopes
Maine's Sunday River Resort spread some holiday cheer today with the 18th Annual Santa Sunday event. In the name of charity, 160 skiing and snowboarding Santas joined in an epic group schuss down the resort's Broadway trail, raising cheer and more than $2,500 for the Sunday River Community Fund (SRCF)-a donor-advised fund housed by the Maine Community Foundation that benefits non-profits in the Sunday River area communities.
To participate in the resort's annual Santa Sunday, guests are required to pre-register the week prior to the event. They also donate a minimum of $15 to the SRCF. Once a Santa has successfully registered and made his/her donation, that Santa must be decked in all the trimmings - complete with hat, beard, coat, belt and pants.
In addition to giving back to a good cause, participants received a free lift ticket to use for the morning, as well as another lift ticket to use any time before December 15, 2017.
"It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit and help support our area communities," Caroline Ochtera, events manager for Sunday River Resort, says.
