Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows Promotes Casey Blann To Senior Vice President Of Mountain Operations
Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has announced the selection of Casey Blann as Senior Vice President of Mountain Operations for the resort. Blann previously served as Vice President of Mountain Operations at Alpine Meadows and Vice President of Risk Management and Loss Prevention across the entire enterprise at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. He possesses 36 years of management experience at resorts across the Tahoe region, including Heavenly Mountain Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort and, prior to joining Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows last summer, Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
“Casey Blann has a tremendous amount of leadership experience in this industry, which he aptly demonstrated during the challenging weather conditions we saw at Alpine Meadows last winter,” said Andy Wirth, President and COO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings. “Casey is a great leader and has been an enterprise-wide champion of safety, our top priority. Moreover, when it comes to the overall experience of our guests and staff he is deeply committed to being the best. There is much to be gained by having our operations directed by unified leadership, while remaining dedicated to preserving what makes Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows unique.”
Blann has a demonstrated commitment to snow quality, with decades of snowmaking and grooming management experience.
“I am excited to work together with the teams at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows,” said Blann. “These teams have come together to share best practices and strive to offer the best possible guest experience, and I am really proud of the momentum we have going into the 2017-18 season. We have invested $4 million in snow safety tools and training to support the safe and efficient opening of these mountains. I’ve been managing ski resorts in Tahoe for over 35 years, and I’ve never seen a financial commitment like this one to getting the mountains open.”
