Alpine Canada Announces New Chairperson, And Members To The Board Of Directors
Alpine Canada is pleased to announce the election of a new Chair and three new members to the Board of Directors, elected at the most recent Annual General Meeting. Martha Hall Findlay (Alberta), who has served most recently as Vice-Chair of the Board, was elected to the role of Chair of the Board, effective September 25, 2017. Also elected to the Board of Directors are Jean-Sebastien Monty (Quebec), Robert Palter (Ontario) and Geoff Heward (Quebec).
Jean-Sébastian Monty launched his marketing career at Cossette in the mid to late 1990s. He then cofounded a digital agency, CloudRaker, in 2000 and was co-president until 2012. Since then, he has been senior partner and president of the digital solutions agency U92. Seasoned by more than twenty years of experience devoted to managing marketing and communications operations, Monty has made it a point of honour to successfully meet challenges in the most diverse of fields. As president of Groupe Police (an active marketing solutions focused holding company) and as COO of Bleublancrouge (a leading Canadian, independent, marketing-communications agency), Monty puts his passion for cutting-edge creative and strategy to use, increasing the use of digital technologies, online platforms and mobile solutions within the collective group of agencies he is involved with.
Robert Palter is currently a senior partner at McKinsey & Company in Toronto with a deep passion for skiing. Palter has been a member of Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario for 45 years, growing up racing in the Southern Ontario. With a daughter who competed on the Southern Ontario Division Ski Team and a son who just completed the U14 program, Palter is well-versed on the current racing landscape. Professionally, Palter is the Global Head of McKinsey’s Capital Projects & Infrastructure and has worked as a management consultant for 22 years. Palter has extensive experience serving as a member of a Board over the last 15 years, including for the following organizations: United Jewish Appeal of Toronto on the governance and strategy committee, Centre for Jewish Education leading a sub-committee on reducing costs in education, A.G. Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Munk School of Global Affairs and Jewish Chamber of Commerce.
Geoff Heward is currently a Portfolio Manager and Senior Vice-President with his family investment management business, Heward Investment Management Inc. A former ski instructor at Mont Tremblant, has passed on his passion to his two children who now race competitively at the U16 and U14 levels at Tremblant’s Club de Ski. Heward’s first career position was at an investment bank in London, England, and Heward then moved to Toronto and took the role of Director in the capital markets division of Scotia Bank. In 2002 Heward moved to Desjardins to work as a Vice-President in their equity capital markets business outside of Quebec. Heward has also served on many boards, including, the Board of Governors of Lower Canada College, the Lower Canada College Advancement and Finance Committees, Director of the Action Centre Foundation (for the physically disabled in Montreal), and has been on various boards and committees with private clubs in Toronto and Montreal.
Alpine Canada wishes to acknowledge the following individuals who have retired from the Board of Directors after many years of service: Chris Slubicki (outgoing Chair of the Board), Stephen MacCulloch, Jill Irving and Ed Wilton. Each of these former Directors have made significant contributions to the advancement of Canadian ski racing and the Alpine Canada organization.
